(she/her/hers) Having moved from Massachusetts to Maine just two months ago, I am thrilled to have new doors open to me as a yoga teacher. A certified yoga teacher since 2005, I want to share what I know in my body, mind and spirit about the value of practicing yoga for our health as we grow older. My classes are designed to be life-affirming, heart-opening and empowering, to calm the mind as they bring deeper energy to the body. They include heart-based themes and clear alignment principles. I encourage your deeper discovery of how to stay strong, flexible, balanced, agile and calm through yoga, whatever your age. I help you to bring this awareness into your life and to appreciate the transformation you create. We do this together. You are my teachers in every moment. I have been taught and influenced by many different yoga traditions over the years, including Kripalu, Iyengar and Anusara. I have studied with many outstanding teachers, including Todd Norian, Baxter Bell and Melina Meza, to name a few. In this process over many years, I have discovered who I am. My teaching style doesn’t have a recognizable name. It’s yoga with Karen. A yoga student since 1990, yoga teaching marks a second career in my life, following a long-term career in educational research. Though my two careers are very different, they both have at the center my commitment to students’ deep and engaged learning.
