Chris (he/him/his) is an E-RYT 500 Yoga Teacher & Continuing Education Provider with Yoga Alliance. He is an Accessible Yoga® Ambassador, a Balanced Athlete® Coach, and a Functional Movement Screen® provider. He has trained in Vinyasa, Restorative yoga, Yin yoga, functional movement, mindfulness, and meditation with teachers Jacqui Bonwell, Sagel Urlacher, Johnny Gillespie, and with the Accessible Yoga Association, Center for Trauma & Embodiment at JRI, Prison Yoga Project, and Functional Movement Systems.
Chris is also a long time teacher and Board Member of Sea Change Yoga. Sea Change Yoga is non-profit based out of Portland that offers the heart centered, healing power of trauma-informed yoga and meditation to students who live within different systems of oppression. Chris has practiced with adults and teenagers at Windham Correctional Center, Milestone Recovery Program, Portland Recovery Community Center, Long Creek Youth Detention Center, Androscoggin County Jail and many other locations. Chris is a fierce advocate for classes that embrace all bodies, abilities, life experiences, and circumstances. Rooted in his own experience how the practices of yoga, mindfulness, and meditation have supported his own experience with depression and sobriety.
He believes that the practice of Yoga offers a system of living a life of generosity, community, equanimity, justice, equality, shared connection, and social responsibility. It is a practice that guides your sacred inner self to align with the balance of the universe, connected to the miracle of existing in each moment. Chris lives in Biddeford with his wife Noreen. When not immersed in work or teaching, he finds great joy in his wonderfully mediocre running ability. He also delights in a regular practice of walking meditations at sunrise and sharing time and space with loved ones, especially Noreen and his cats.
