Robin graduated from the University of Virginia and enjoyed careers in radio broadcasting and education. An intermittent student of yoga and meditation for many years, she ultimately committed to her practice for more than 10 years before completing her 200-hour teacher training with Jacqui Bonwell/ Sacred Seeds Yoga School. Robin continued her studies through Pranakriya School of Yoga, The Lotus Pond in Tampa, Florida and with other specialists in the yoga and anatomy field, such as Grace Jull and Marlysa Sullivan. She received her Reiki 2 training and attunement through Kristine Keegan.
As a Yoga Alliance E-RYT and YACEP, Robin has been offering Yoga Nidra and Restorative Yoga teacher trainings since 2017. She brings her astrology centered yoga and other unique offerings to various festivals and studios in Maine and beyond. Robin lives in South Portland, Maine with her husband (who is also a yoga teacher) and their two dogs. “I find yoga to be endlessly creative in both teaching and practice. Since our bodies and minds are different every day and thrive on both familiarity and newness, I teach or practice according to the day’s energy, looking to the Moon, Sun, planets, seasons and cycles for intuitive guidance.” |
Owner of Scarborough Yoga, Co-Founder of sheJAMs, LLC, (an all-women’s triathlon club), RYT 500 Yoga Teacher ~ Jacqui Bonwell’s Sacred Seed 2012, USAT Certified Coach Level 1, 2006, Event Director of the Maine YogaFest, Master Reiki Practitioner, Usui Lineage ~ Laura Sheldon. 2 Yin Teacher Trainings with Josh Summers, Restorative Yoga Teacher Training with Robin Ivy Payton, Sequencing with Amy Ippoliti, Meditation & Pranayama with Shive Shakti.
Andrea grew up in Portland and lives in South Portland. She started practicing Yoga when she was training for a triathlon. Chronically pulling a rib out of alignment during training, she treated with a chiropractor who told her she could do more for herself than he could do and told her to practice yoga. Thus began a new journey and her love for the practice of yoga. Andrea is trained in Vinyasa but focuses her teachings on the quieter practice of Yin Yoga. “Yin Yoga balances the Yang in my life, of which there is plenty!”, she says. “Practicing yoga creates breathing room. Room to pause before I react and recover when I do react to life’s challenges.” |
With a dance-teacher mother and a mountaineer father it's no surprise that I ended up a mover and a groover. From dance, to mountain biking, yoga, weightlifting and hula hooping, I have always loved being in my body. In my early twenties I learned that I love to help other people find that feeling. Manual therapy always lent itself well to my busy structure and when the opportunity presented itself to go to massage school in 2011, I leapt at the chance. Since then, I've had an insatiable desire to learn, reflected in my latest endeavor with the Anatomy Trains Structural Integration program, from which I graduated and received a board certification in June of 2018.
The other place I found repose was on my yoga mat. After years of being a dedicated student I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2013. These days I'm solely teaching private yoga lessons and I couldn't be happier. They range from restorative yoga to perfecting arm balances and handstands, but most of my clients agree that my therapeutic sessions [a blend of yin, restorative, yoga nidra, Thai massage and reiki], are reportedly "magical". |
